SUMMER IRIS
Our Arcata farm location is one of the only places in the world where iris can be grown in the summer. Our cool maritime climate with high light and cool coastal breezes are optimal for growing IRIS. IRISES are harvested when a sliver of color is showing on the flower head, just before the bud becomes full, keeping the delicate petals safe during transport. We are delighted to be your source for these extraordinary blooms in the summer!

SUSTAINABILITY
Sun Valley is demonstrating its commitment to sustainable practices by recycling damaged crates for re-use in other industries. These are being ground up for the creation of new black plastic piping.

SIMON SMIT ON THE TEAM
Simon is a hands on manager whose role is do anything it takes to get Sun Valley's high quality flowers distributed on the East Coast. Always looking for better way to get flowers to our customers, Simon embodies the Sun Valley spirit.
Growing up in Holland as the son of a flower bulb farmer, Simon has been around flowers and bulbs his entire life. Coming to the US when he was 19 years old he worked in greenhouses for 12 years forcing potted flower bulbs. He later became the manager of operations and logistics for a flower bulb company.
Simon is an active family man and in the local soccer community, serving as a coach for his son's teams, and also playing on a team himself. When not engaged at work or with sporting activities, Simon enjoys gardening.
He states, "I love working with flowers and bulbs and thus Sun Valley is the perfect place to work. Sun Valley's dedication toward quality and excellence produces an exemplary collection of fresh cut flowers of which I'm proud to be a contributing member."
Sun Valley is very glad to have Simon on the team and running our new Cranbury, New Jersey facility!

CALIFORNIA FLORAL CONVENTION
Sun Valley will be participating in the "California Floral Convention" July
31st through August 2nd. This exciting new show will showcase the best of
California growers including Sun Valley. Featuring special education
sessions, networking receptions and a Flower Fair that will show off the
wonderful flowers grown by California growers. Held in Long Beach, CA, Sun
Valley is delighted to participate in this unique event.
