Ilex Season
Ilex season is here. For me this is an exciting time of year, as I finally get to see the next generation of Ilex we've been breeding. Every weekend, I have been out in the fields checking their progress.

Over the last five years, we have been developing our own varieties of Ilex, cross-breeding the varieties with the most desired traits. This effort takes patience and time, however, the goal of creating a superior orange berry for fall and an exceptional red berry for the holiday season gets closer every year.

It is a very gratifying and fulfilling experience.

Cotinus Continues
Our Cotinus harvest is continuing. This has been a record year for us, both in production and sales, and the momentum is still building. Cotinus is a great fall foliage, adding dark, rich browns with burgundy highlights on the leaves. We have a selection of stem lengths, so you can pair with fall lilies or other tall flowers, or cut short and use as an unusual bouquet element. See our Flower Talk blog to learn more about this crop.

Christmas Greens
56 days until Christmas. Time to be thinking about your greens supply. Our West Coast Evergreen Division is ramping up to meet demand. Noble Fir, Silver Fir, Princess Pine, Juniper, Cedar and more will be ready for all your fall/holiday needs. This year make your greens purchasing simple, talk to your Sun Valley sales representative, pre-book your orders and then relax.

Sun Valley has been a proud member of the Wholesale Florist and Florist Supplier Association for many years.

We just returned from their annual convention in Miami, where members of our team were able to connect with industry leaders and increase our knowledge base through workshops.

WFFAS is a great organization. To learn more about what they do, please visit their website.

Pre-Book Now

The farm is buzzing with activity as we approach the holiday season. The pace is only going to increase until Mother's Day. It's time to think about pre-booking your orders for Thanksgiving and all of December.

This is a great way to stay organized and make sure you get the flowers your customers want.

Autumn Color
LA Hybrids
Our Royal LA Hybrid lilies are available in all the perfect fall colors. Yellows, oranges and reds are all ready, with more big plantings due to be harvested in November. LA Hybrids are bred to have the beefy size of Orientals, without the strong fragrance and warm color tones.
